… early test results help reduce construction schedule.

Many of Dunkelberger’s projects require concrete test results be reported to the site within 24 hours or less of casting in order to allow contractors to remove shoring, reshoring and/or stress post tensioned cables.  Dunkelberger routinely is onsite in the early morning hours to pick up concrete compressive strength specimens, return them to our laboratory, perform the test and report the test results to the site before 7:00 a.m.

… experienced staff heads off potential problems.

On a large earthwork project, Dunkelberger was performing earthwork observation services during excavation of the lake.  The initial geotechnical study performed by others did not identify an unsuitable soil layer which was located approximately seven feet below grade in isolated pockets across the site.  As the unsuitable materials were unearthed during the excavation process, our field personnel immediately visually classified the materials as unsuitable (organic) for structural fill.  The general contractor was promptly notified and these materials, with Dunkelberger’s involvement, were separated from the suitable materials which were being placed within the building pad areas.

… resources to handle short notice situations.

In these times of material shortages, Dunkelberger is often asked to perform our services with little or no notice.  On a recent project, Pump Station 5229 for Palm Beach County, the construction manager was notified the concrete supplier had moved the delivery time up to “immediate release.”  Later in a courtesy memo to our office, the project manager recalled, “I called Dunkelberger, talked to Rafael, and he promised to see if he could move up arrival of your technician.  The concrete truck arrived and we scrambled to find our ‘emergency’ cylinder molds, but within five minutes of concrete arrival, within 20 minutes of my call, your technician was on the job and testing.  We couldn’t have asked for better service.  Our hats off to you.  Thanks again.”
